VHL PRESS RELEASE -- August 5th 2020

by VHL

Chicago, IL - Press Release

Per the State of Illinois sports restriction mandate set fourth by Gov. Pritzker, the Veterans Hockey League will be pausing our season beginning on August 15th, 2020, until further notice.

Games for Week 2 (Aug 9th) will continue as scheduled.

We are continuing to work closely with Fifth Third Ice Arena(host to the VHL) as well as monitoring all news coming out of the Governor’s office as it relates to the sports mandate. Once the sport of hockey High Risk level is reduced, we will resume our season.

Needless to say, we are disappointed as our mission has always been to keep our local Military Veterans on the ice, however, we also acknowledge that the safety of everyone is imperative.

As most of you know, we are an all-volunteer organization and are extremely grateful to have teams and sponsors who are committed to our success. Without their support there would be no VHL.

During this temporary pause of the regular season, we have decided to host a VHL Skills Boot Camp Challenge that will allow the VHL teams/players to still compete/represent their teams in a safe and responsible setting. More information on the VHL Skills Boot Camp Challenge will be released in the next couple of days.

Thank you again for your patience, support and flexibility. We look forward to resuming our season as soon as circumstances allow.
